Make
Madison more
Affordable
Our city needs to find new ways to reduce costs for residents that do not rely on continuously raising property taxes. In the long-term, we must secure a fairer deal of shared revenue. This is the funding that Madison receives from the state. Right now, our city only receives $29 per resident, while the average municipality receives $195 per resident. As someone who has spent nearly a decade working in and around government, I am eager to put my experience to work in advocating for Madison in the State Capitol. As an alder, I will: Help lobby the state for a fairer shared revenue deal and greater municipal service reimbursement to bring more state dollars back to Madison and alleviate burden on taxpayers. Fight to expand programs that reduce costs for residents whether they own or rent, including utility bill assistance and property tax assistance programs for seniors. Work to expand truly affordable housing options by diversifying and increasing Madison's housing stock and prioritizing access to public transit, jobs, and other opportunities. Find creative ways to increase efficiency and cut costs while also protecting essential services, public employees and a high quality of life for Madisonians
